en tant que WANTED paysage
The Americas is a vessel that inspires travel. The visitor becomes traveler, merchant or adventurer… From the lightness of the orchids to the heaviness of the boreal logs, the sequence motivates the sailor to observe materials that are representative of the economic exchange of our continent: sugar canes, banana trees, cotton plants, rubber trees, logs, corn… The migration of these primary materials is at the base of the commercial, social and cultural trade and forms the foundation of the New Continent. The United States of America occupies a zone that creates a bridge between the south (South and Middle America) and the north (Quebec). The Americas witnesses the past and steps aboard the future… Materials are brought from the ocean but also from the rivers; fur trading posts, plants and organic materials migrated from south to north. The Americas can be interpreted as a garden representing the world from today and the past, and each divers fragment of the garden represents a different climate zone... Therefore the boat is a condensation of geography and history. (Plant) materials brought from far away over a large time period are “collapsed” and represented into one container/vessel.
The different conceptual layers are orchestrated to bring poetry and to inspire the visitor to dream and compose a personal interpretation of what the USA is in relation to Quebec City as well as their position in the whole of the Americas…
The concept emphasizes that Quebec City is a city built on the water’s edge.
